VACANCIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

"Being on DCS has shown me the importance of communication and networking. Drawing on these two skills has assisted me in my professional development, therefore enabling me to start to establish myself in the corporate landscape."

Deakin Commerce Society

Annual General Meeting

As with all other student societies at Deakin, the Deakin Commerce Society is required to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) sometime during Trimester 2 of each year.

As per our constitution, all positions on DCS become vacant for anyone to apply* - regardless of your field of study.

A Facebook post will be made well in time before the  AGM with all the information on how to apply and when the meeting is to be held.

Applicants will then have to prepare a short speech to be delivered at our AGM, with votes cast by those eligible in attendance.

To be eligible to vote you must be a DCS member.

In the event you are unable to make our AGM you will be able to submit a video as a way of application.

* Please note that to apply for the position of President - you must have been on DCS for longer than 12 months

First Year Representative Program

The Deakin Commerce Society holds an annual first-year representative program.

Similar to our AGM, any first-year studying in any field of study are able to apply.

A Facebook post will be made inviting students to apply via a series of questions.

Upon reviewing the applications, a number of first-years will be invited to attend our face-to-face First year representative event.*

This event will comprise of a team-based challenge, where first years will be tested on their ability to communicate, work on a team and have the opportunity to demonstrate why they should be apart of DCS.

Successful applicants will then have the opportunity to be apart of DCS and oversee all the divisions on the committee for the remainder of the year.

* Please note that due to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, DCS will not be holding a face-to-face challenge this year

"Not only did the DCS First Year program gift me with the skills, resources, and enthusiasm to guide me to my current role, it also brought me to the people who today I call my best friends. I am thankful every day to the DCS First Year program and can’t imagine my university life without the opportunities it has gifted me."

Chryssa Yannios

Head of Events 2020

"DCS has allowed me to develop a higher sense of professionalism, in turn assisting me in being more organised, task-oriented and as a result, has projected my university life in a positive direction. You feel good at uni, you do well at uni, simple as that and DCS assisted me in doing so."

Mina Fahmy

Head of Accouning 2020

Vacancies throughout the year

As one of the largest student societies on campus, it is essential that the Deakin Commerce Society have all positions filled throughout the year.

Furthermore, it is possible that positions may become vacant for those to apply outside our Annual General Meeting or First Year Representative Program.

In the event that this occurs - a post will be made via our Facebook page inviting any Deakin student to apply

Depending on the position, the application process can differ. However, will always involve the process of a written application and an interview with some or all of the executive of DCS

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for any vacancies.
